Loupora finds the subject, locates its eyes and scores focus right there. Bursts become stacks. Frames compare eye to eye.

Loupora loupe view: a red fox scored 97 for eye focus, with the pixel loupe on its eyes, the keep threshold histogram and a filmstrip of stacked frames.

02 · Sharpness scoring

Scores the eyes,
not the background.

85% of the score comes from fine detail between the eyes, measured on full-resolution pixels. A sharp tail can't rescue soft eyes.

  • Robust to contrast and sensor noise
  • Catches motion blur
  • Falls back to whole-scene sharpness without a subject
Fox eyes at 100%, crisp fur between the eyes. Score 85.
Same fox one frame earlier at 100%, softer fur between the eyes. Score 61.

Focus overlay on a robin: green cells mark strong local detail on the bird and its perch, while the blurred background stays unmarked.

Focus overlay shows where detail actually is. Set a keep threshold; the histogram shows where your shoot lands.

03 · Smart stacking

59 frames.
26 decisions.

Bursts and near-duplicates group into stacks, best frame first. Grouping reads the subject's pose, not just the scene.

  • Same posture and head direction stack together
  • Slight pans and zooms are tolerated
  • Never changes a decision
Grid view sorted sharpest first: frames grouped into stacks on light backdrops, each with its stack count and the best-scoring frame first.

Reframed? Still one stack.

Grouping compares the subject's pose, not the pixels. Pan or zoom between shots and the frames still stack. Change the pose and you get a new stack.

Compare view of the two-frame stack on a white photo background: DSC05682 scores 90 and DSC05680 scores 88. The filmstrip shows them grouped, with other frames outside the stack.

04 · Smart comparison

Compare eye to eye.

Up to four frames side by side. Zoom and pan stay linked, and every pane centers on the subject's eye, even when it moved between shots.

  • Linked zoom up to 400%
  • Keep or discard from each pane
  • Drag frames from the filmstrip into slots
Compare view at 100% with eyes aligned: the left frame, focused on the nose, scores 76; the right frame, focused on the eyes, scores 88.
